YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Controlling Board on Monday approved $92,000 for Youngstown State University to install new security cameras across campus.
The upgrades will enhance safety measures and improve monitoring capabilities.
“Campus safety is a top priority, and these upgrades will help ensure that students and staff feel secure while focusing on their education,” state Rep. Lauren McNally of Youngstown, D-58th, said in a news release announcing the award. “This investment is another step toward creating the most safe and welcoming environment at Youngstown State.”
The Ohio Department of Public Safety, in coordination with the Chancellor of Higher Education’s Campus Safety Grant Program, provides funding to state institutions of higher education for eligible security improvements that assist the institutions in improving the overall physical security and safety of their buildings on public campuses throughout Ohio, according to the Controlling Board agenda. The program awards grants competitively to eligible state institutions of higher education.
