YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Steven Van Zandt will come to Youngstown on March 11 to give a presentation titled “A Life of Activism: Collaborating for a Cause.”

His appearance is part of the Centofanti Symposium lecture series at Youngstown State University. It will take place at 7 p.m. in Stambaugh Auditorium.

Van Zandt is a guitarist in Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and the rock superstar’s musical right-hand man. He is also an actor, best known for playing the role of Silvio Dante in the HBO series “The Sopranos,” and a producer, activist and historian.

Van Zandt is considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on rock ’n’ roll. A band leader in his earlier days, he was part of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes before becoming a founding member of The E Street Band.

He is the founder of Renegade Nation, Renegade TV and Wicked Cool Records and launched the syndicated radio show “Little Steven’s Underground Garage.”

Van Zandt has organized and performed for political causes for four decades. He created the Rock and Roll Forever Foundation to support music education and help inspire children to stay in school.

He has received numerous awards, including the We Are Family Foundation’s Humanitarian Award.
