AKRON, Ohio – The ninth season of “Studio C Sessions” will begin April 4 on PBS Western Reserve.

The weekly show features regional rock artists giving a stripped-down or acoustic concert. Each episode premieres at 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday.

The upcoming season will feature performances by Canfield native JD Eicher; Megan Bee of Athens; Paul Thorn of Mississippi; Wishgarden of Akron; and more.

Eicher’s episode will premiere April 25. The artist who is now based in Columbus announced earlier this year that he has ended his run as a performing musician. The “Studio C Sessions” concert therefore could be the final chance to catch a performance by him.

The show, created by The Summit FM and PBS Western Reserve, is designed to put musicians in the spotlight and help them build an audience. Each concert is filmed at The Summit’s studio in Akron before an audience.

“Studio C is a platform where local artists can showcase their work, and where music lovers across our region can enjoy music discovery with no cost barrier,” said Ryan Donchess, PBS Western Reserve’s chief content officer.

Tommy Bruno, general manager of The Summit, said the artists chosen for the show are filled with gratitude.

“[They] know that our public media organizations are true champions for their work,” Bruno said. “Using every platform available to showcase their talents is a privilege we take very seriously.”

All episodes of “Studio C Sessions” are also available for on-demand streaming through the free PBS App and the PBS Western Reserve website.

To attend a recording session of the series, one must be a member of The Summit FM. The series is a collaboration between The Summit FM and PBS Western Reserve, both nonprofit, public media organizations that rely on community donations to operate.
