YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sweet Melissa’s, the popular restaurant known for its signature salads and fresh ingredients, has opened a new location in Howland, marking the third for the locally owned business.

Owner Melissa Poland said community support in Boardman and Columbiana inspired the expansion, with her husband discovering the Howland property after months of searching. The new restaurant can seat up to 68 guests, including a private meeting room for local businesses and events.

Poland emphasized that quality and consistency remain at the heart of Sweet Melissa’s success, noting that every salad tastes the same as it did eight and a half years ago when the first location opened.

“We need to serve quality food, and we have done that since Day One,” Poland said. “Our customers know they’ll always get the same great product – and often, the best ideas for new salads come from them.”

With growing demand and loyal customers across the Mahoning Valley, Poland said franchising may be on the horizon. “We’re kind of dipping our toe into that right now,” she added. “Stay tuned.”
