In the heart of the Valley, Sweet Memories Vintage Tees continues transforming nostalgia into both business growth and community impact, its founder says.
Founded in 2020 by entrepreneur Linda Barton, Sweet Memories in Liberty, Ohio, began as a small vintage candy and T-shirt concept.
Today, Barton says it is one of the region’s most unique retail destinations. And with more than 100 active brand licenses, she says Sweet Memories is the largest officially licensed candy and ice cream–branded apparel company in the United States.
Sweet Memories faced rising inflation production costs and supply chain delays, not unlike many small businesses, in 2025.
Barton says she focused on smaller production runs, stronger national licensing relationships and streamlining operations to remain flexible. A lean, cross-trained 12-person team allowed the company to pivot quickly.
Sweet Memories grew, adding new licenses including Orca Beverage, Stuckey’s, Zotz, Boyer Candy Co. and Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews.
Originally founded in 1932, the Golden Age Beverage Co., has been revived by Sweet Memories as Golden Age Beverages. This hometown soda line features classic flavors and vintage-inspired packaging.
The company is preparing in 2026 for its largest expansion, doubling its retail footprint by adding the Golden Age Vintage Marketplace – a new 4,000-square-foot indoor market.
The curated space will offer affordable, staffed booths and year-round opportunities for local artists, crafters and entrepreneurs to showcase their handmade and vintage goods.
Community impact remains central to the mission, according to Barton. Sweet Memories has raised more than $112,431.66 for local causes like Akron Children’s Hospital and Meals on Wheels America through fundraisers and a portion of licensed apparel sales.
