WARREN, Ohio – Brass Metropolis, a tribute to Chicago, will return to the Robins Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1.

The eight-piece band captures the artistry of early Chicago Transit Authority. 

Tickets range from $18 to $25 (plus applicable fees) and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at RobinsTheatre.com and the box office, 160 E. Market St.

Onyx Health Club to Mark Anniversary

NILES, Ohio – Onyx Health Club will mark the fifth anniversary of its Eastwood Mall location Saturday, Jan. 4, with activities, giveaways and entertainment and a free gym pass to nonmembers so they can explore the facility.

The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m.

Guests can get a chance to win prizes, including a bicycle, a television and a grill, and local businesses will offer giveaways and samples.

The celebration will continue after 7 p.m. with a DJ,  open bar and appetizers and a performance by the Fred Astaire dancers.

Dave & Buster’s Hiring for Eastwood Location

NILES, Ohio – Dave & Buster’s will hire more than 150 people for its Eastwood Mall location, which will open Jan. 27. 

Front and back-of-house positions are available, including servers, bartenders, hosts, line cooks, game techs and more. Interested candidates should complete an online application HERE.

The new entertainment and restaurant hub will include more than 100 of the latest arcade games, food, innovative drinks and a state-of-the-art sports bar featuring a 40-foot high-definition TV screen. The Niles location will also offer a party space that can be rented for special events.

Hoyt Art Competition Accepting Submissions

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Applications are now being accepted for the 52nd annual Hoyt Regional Juried Art Competition.

Both emergent and professional artists within a 250-mile radius of the museum are eligible to submit works and vie for nearly $1,300 in cash awards. Most media are accepted, with the exception of video and installation.

Poet, Sci-fri Writer at Lit Youngstown Event

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader Series will present poet Jessica Manack and science fiction writer Marie Vibbert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in the downstairs room at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave. The room is accessible only by stairs. 

ASL interpretation will be provided by Meagan Albani.

Manack holds degrees from Hollins University and lives with her family in Pittsburgh. Her work has appeared widely in literary journals, and she has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.  She is the author of “Gastromythology” (2024).

Vibbert’s short fiction has appeared more than 90 times in magazines such as Nature, Analog and Clarkesworld and has been translated into Czech, Chinese and Vietnamese. Her debut novel, “Galactic Hellcats,” was long-listed by the British Science Fiction Award.

The First Wednesday reading in February will feature Youngstown native Cherise Benton and Paula J. Lambert of Columbus.
