COLUMBIANA, Ohio – Because of the strong demand for tickets, a second screening of the premiere of “Brier Hill” has been added.

It will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at Columbiana Arts Theatre.

The original screening will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the theater.

Tickets for both dates are $30 (plus $2.80 fees) and can be purchased HERE.

The film was written and directed by Jimmy Taaffe of Struthers and is based on a fiction novel he wrote. Set in the 1970s, it focuses on a young couple in Youngstown’s Brier Hill neighborhood who run afoul of an organized crime group.

Carols and Cocoa Returns to Stambaugh

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music invites the community to celebrate the holiday season at the annual Carols and Cocoa and Dana Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Stambaugh Auditorium.

This annual tradition showcases the talent of YSU’s music students and faculty through a festive program. Multiple ensembles will perform classic holiday favorites and contemporary seasonal selections.

The concert will feature performances by the YSU Dana Chorale under the direction of Hae-Jong Lee, the Stambaugh Chorus, YSU Wind Ensemble led by Michael Butler, Jazz Ensemble directed by Kent Engelhardt and specialty ensembles. The program will also feature the Jefferson High School Show Stoppers from Jefferson, Ohio, with a special guest performance.

Holiday classics will be performed alongside jazz arrangements and choral favorites. The program also includes the world premiere of “Carol of the Bembe Bells” by the Percussion Ensemble.

Arielle Green Hall in Christmas Performance

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Joyeux Noel with Arielle will take place at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 on the main stage of the Youngstown Playhouse.

Arielle Green Hall will present song, dance and storytelling with an all-ages choir that captures the warmth and wonder of the holiday season.

Green Hall, a native of Youngstown, has dedicated her life to exploring various facets of the performing arts. She has opened for acclaimed artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Kim Waters, Paul Taylor and Marion Meadows and embraced the classical and theater arts.

Craft Show and TubaChristmas Concert

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Stambaugh Auditorium’s annual holiday craft show, and the TubaChristmas concert, will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 30.

Entry is free, but donations will be collected.

The 2025 spotlight vendors, Field of Dreams Flowers and Pastries by Andrea will be accompanied by 82 vendors spread across three floors, showcasing a variety of items, including holiday décor, baked goods, pet apparel, handmade artwork, holiday ornaments and more. 

Hot and cold lunch items and refreshments will be available for purchase in the ballroom, located on the ground level.

The craft show is held in tandem with the 52nd annual TubaChristmas concert, which begins in the Concert Hall at 4 p.m. This concert is free to the public, with no tickets necessary. Donations will be accepted.

TubaChristmas is a celebration of the holidays as tuba players come together and perform a variety of Christmas classics. The various sizes and sounds of the instruments, along with the spirit of the musicians, make this a fun family event. Tuba and euphonium players interested in playing in the TubaChristmas concert can register now at StambaughAuditorium.com or the day of the concert beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Canfield Concert Band Holiday Shows

CANFIELD, Ohio – The Canfield Community Concert Band will perform three free holiday concerts. Here is the schedule:

  • Nov. 30 at 3 p.m., Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown.
  • Dec. 3 at 7 p.m., Copeland Oaks Retirement Community, Murphy Auditorium, 800 S. 15th St., Sebring.
  • Dec. 7 at 4 p.m., Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman.

Dance Program for Small Children at JCC

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, is offering a dance program for youths.

Little Groovers, for ages 2 to 5, will take place from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Dec. 4, 11 and 18. This class is designed to allow children to explore music and movement while building gross motor skills. It will feature a kid-friendly obstacle course where children develop imaginations, coordination and balance. The cost is $30 for JCC members and $40 for nonmembers.

Alternative Gift Market at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Westminster College’s International Studies and First-Year programs will sponsor the college’s annual Alternative Gift Market, inviting the campus and local community to support charitable causes across the globe. 

The market – taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in the Witherspoon Rooms of McKelvey Campus Center on Westminster’s campus – will sell gifts that encourage change through regional and international service agencies.

In partnership with Alternative Gifts International, this year’s market will feature 17 student-supported causes, each represented through student-run tables, informational displays and research posters. 

Shoppers can learn about a wide variety of initiatives, from providing clean water and education to communities in Africa, offering food and shelter to those in need in the U.S. and abroad, supporting health services like speech therapy and medical relief, empowering women through small business programs and promoting environmental sustainability and disaster relief around the world.

Students from three Inquiry courses and an International Studies class have spent the semester researching global issues and the countries connected to the causes they represent. At the market, each group will showcase a trifold display promoting their chosen cause, along with a research poster highlighting their findings.

Attendees can also purchase Westminster Bee Company honey at the market. WBC is a student-led business focused on selling honey produced at Westminster College’s bee apiary.

The Alternative Gift Market is open to the public. 

Adele Tribute Concert Coming to Robins

WARREN, Ohio – Absolute Adele, a tribute concert to Adele featuring vocalist Jennifer Cella, will come to the Robins Theatre at 7:30 p.m. March 21.
