NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – “Three American Troubadours,” a touring concert production celebrating the music of James Taylor, Carly Simon and Carole King, will come to Orr Auditorium at Westminster College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28.
The concert is part of the college’s Celebrity Series.
It highlights the lives and careers of six-time Grammy winner James Taylor, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Carly Simon and Carole King, who wrote or co-wrote 118 Billboard Hot 100 pop hits.
The three artists have produced hit songs such as “How Sweet It Is,” “Shower the People,” “Anticipation,” “You’re So Vain,” “It’s Too Late” and “You’ve Got a Friend.”
“Three American Troubadours” features vocalists Lisa Sherman and Alice Gedeon, guitarist James Gedeon, a six-piece band and multimedia elements.

Sci-fi Museum Seeks Volunteers
WARREN, Ohio – The Museum of Science Fiction & Fantasy Arts is assembling a volunteer crew to help organize, catalog and build exhibits.
The volunteers will become part of the process of launching the museum. Tasks will include everything from identifying props in films to preparing them for display.
Crew members will receive exclusive access, special screenings, a volunteer T-shirt and more.

Poets to Read Works at Lit Youngstown Event
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Two poets will be the guests at Lit Youngstown’s next readers series event at 7 p.m. April 1 at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave.
Sean Thomas Dougherty of Erie, Pa., and Ben Gulyas of Cleveland will be the guests. An open mic session will follow.

Westminster Wind Ensemble in Concert
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College Wind Ensemble will present its spring concert, “Optimism,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, in Orr Auditorium. Admission is free to the public.
As part of Westminster’s Music With Friends collaborative series, the concert will also feature selections performed by the Wilmington High School Band.
The Westminster Wind Ensemble will perform Overture to “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein and transcribed by Clare Grundman, “Acrostic Song” from Final Alice by David Del Tredici and arranged by Mark Spede and “Steampunk Suite” by Erika Svanoe.
The Wilmington High School Band, conducted by Jonathan Nickel, will perform Overture Jubiloso by Frank Erickson, “New Mexico March” by John Philip Sousa, “Ammerland” by Jacob de Haan and “Arabian Dances” by Brian Balmages.
Both ensembles will combine for a final performance of “Infinity” by Katahj Copley.
Auditions for Hopewell Theatre’s ‘Glassheart’
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auditions for Hopewell Theatre’s production of “Glassheart” will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, March 20, and Monday, March 23.
The theater is at 702 Mahoning Ave.
The romantic comedy will run for five performances, June 5-14. It is directed by Jaye Mills.
“Glassheart,” by Reina Hardy, is a modern retelling of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Beauty never showed up. After centuries under the curse, the Beast and his remaining magical servant (a hopelessly optimistic lamp) move into a shabby Chicago apartment, hoping for a lower cost of living and better luck with girls. Is a happy ending possible in the ordinary world of paying rent and taking public transportation?
Scrappers Name Manager for Season
NILES, Ohio – Former Major Leaguer Joe Thurston has been named manager of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers for the 2026 season.
He has a long history as a coach in the Major Leagues and the minors, but the Scrappers post will be his first time as a manager.
Thurston was selected in the fourth round in the 1999 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He carved out a seven-year career in MLB, spending time with the Dodgers (2002-04), Philadelphia Phillies (2006), Boston Red Sox (2008), St. Louis Cardinals (2009) and Florida Marlins (2011).
He has been the hitting coach for affiliate clubs of the Boston Red Sox (2015), Cincinnati Reds (2016) and Seattle Mariners (2017-2019).
He was named the first base coach for the Seattle Mariners in 2020 and served as hitting coach for the Philadelphia Phillies’ Triple A affiliate, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, in 2022.
In 2025, he became the hitting coach for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Young Artists in Exhibition at The Butler
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Butler Institute of American Art will celebrate National Youth Art Month by presenting its fourth annual exhibition for students in grades K-6 in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
Nearly 300 young artists and over 40 art educators will be at the museum Sunday, March 22.
Prizes will go to the top artists in each grade and to the teachers.
The exhibition will take place from 1-3 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Artwork will also be on display from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21. Admission is free and open to the public.
Percussion Invitational at YSU’s Ford Theater
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will host its inaugural YSU Percussion Invitational from 12:30-5 p.m. Saturday, March 21, in Ford Theater, located in Bliss Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The invitational brings together college and high school percussion ensembles and soloists from across the region for an afternoon of performances. Participating groups include ensembles from YSU, Baldwin Wallace University, Kent State University, the University of Akron and Slippery Rock University, alongside high school groups from Cuyahoga Falls, Brunswick, Olmsted Falls, Westlake, Bay Village, Canfield, Poland Seminary, Norwin and North Allegheny, as well as Mount Lebanon and individual guest solo artists.
The event will conclude with a mass drum circle featuring all participating performers.
