NILES, Ohio – Eastwood Fashion Week will take place March 2-8 in Center Court at Eastwood Mall. All events are free.
Here is the schedule:
- Sunday, March 2: Casal Aveda Institute scholarship hair show, 1 p.m. Aspiring stylists and estheticians will compete for scholarships to Casal Aveda Institute. Judges will evaluate contestants on their total look and makeup application as their models hit the runway.
- Monday, March 3: Trumbull Senior Productions “Through the Eras” fashion show, 2 p.m. This show will feature looks from various eras, followed by a dance performance.
- Thursday, March 6: Youngstown Clothing Co. High School Face-Off fashion show, 6:30 p.m. High schools from around the Mahoning Valley will showcase their style on the runway with apparel from Youngstown Clothing Co. The schools that bring the most supporters will receive cash donations from the Cafaro Foundation. To register a school, click HERE.
- Friday, March 7: Geneva Winterfest Group Pageant Spring Show, 6:30 p.m. The latest spring fashion trends will be on the runway, modeled by Geneva Winterfest’s 2025 Pageant Girls. All items will be available at Boscov’s at Eastwood Mall.
- Saturday, March 8: Akron Children’s Hospital Me & My Hero Fashion Show, noon. Experience a touching fashion show featuring patients, doctors and nurses from Akron Children’s Hospital. Those in attendance can also donate to the hospital for a chance to win a special prize, valued at $400.
Ballet Western Reserve Presents Fundraiser
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ballet Western Reserve, 218 W. Boardman St., downtown, will host its annual Building Art event Saturday, March 8.
Building Art is a fundraiser that features BWR’s company dancers performing their own choreographic works. The event will also include music from Rachell Joy and Mike Rich, live mural art by Patrick McGlone and building tours by Bill Lawson of the Mahoning County Historical Society. There will also be appetizers, raffles and a wine pull.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 ($25 for students) and can be purchased at the door or in advance HERE.
Kennywood, Sandcastle Hiring Workers
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Kennywood and Idlewild amusement parks and Sandcastle Water Park have begun hiring for the 2025 season.
Kennywood, which opens April 12, is seeking to hire more than 1,100 workers. Idlewild and Sandcastle will together hire an additional 900.
The 2025 season will be the longest ever for Kennywood and Sandcastle, general manager Ricky Spicuzza said. It will include the all-new Eggcellent Easter Celebration and the reopening of the Steel Curtain roller coaster.
The parks offer a starting pay rate of up to $15 per hour, growth opportunities and flexible schedules. All team members also receive free admission to the parks, discounts on food and retail, free tickets for family and friends, scholarship programs and access to exclusive events.
Jobs include ride operators, food and beverage team members, security team members, lifeguards, character performers and more. No experience is required, and all applicants must be age 14 or older.
Job fairs for Kennywood and Sandcastle will take place March 8 and 29 at Kennywood. Idlewild will host a job fair March 8.

African American Read-In at Library
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County will participate in this year’s African American Read-In on Saturday at the Main Library.
Live readings from works by African American authors will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free. Registration is not required.
Play About Lebron James at Cleveland Theater
CLEVELAND, Ohio – “King James,” a play about Lebron James by Rajiv Joseph, will open Saturday in the Outcalt Theatre at Playhouse Square and run through March 23.
The play is being presented by Cleveland Play House as a co-production with City Theatre Company of Pittsburgh. City Theatre Company will present the play in Pittsburgh following the Cleveland run from April 19-May 11.
Joseph, who grew up in Cleveland Heights, premiered “King James” at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago in 2019. It made its off-Broadway debut at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2023 and was an Outer Critics Circle Award nominee for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play in 2024.
Performance times are as follows: 7 p.m. Tuesdays; 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Alternate performances include 7 p.m. March 2 and 7:30 p.m. March 23.
Tickets start at $25. Students can receive $15 tickets with a valid student ID. Ohio Direction/EBT cardholders receive $5 admission to any performance (up to eight tickets).
