YOUNGSTOWN – Alla Boara, an Italian folk music group, will perform at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica.

The dinner-concert event is part of the performing arts series sponsored by the Cliffe College of Creative Arts at Youngstown State University. All tickets are sold out.

Alla Boara was founded by Anthony Taddeo, a Dana School of Music alumnus. 

YSU Saxophone Professor in Recital

YOUNGSTOWN – A faculty recital by Youngstown State University professor and saxophonist James Umble will take place Monday, Jan. 27, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. Admission is free.

Umble will be accompanied by Da-Eun Choi on piano in performing a new piece written by New York composer and jazz artist Patrick Zimerli. The challenging piece, written specifically for Umble, draws on both jazz and classical roots.

Umble is a two-time winner of the YSU Distinguished Professor in Teaching award.

Tribute to The Eagles at Packard Hall

WARREN, Ohio – Out of Eden, an Eagles tribute band, will come to Packard Music Hall on April 26 for a 7:30 p.m. concert.

The opening act will be a tribute to Linda Ronstadt featuring Katie Kirchner Gladman of Just One Look Ohio.

Tickets range from $45 to $24 and are available at Ticketmaster.com and the Packard box office.

Planetarium Announces Spring Shows 

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College Planetarium will host four new shows this spring.

All shows are free and start at 6 p.m. The planetarium is in the Hoyt Science Center on the Westminster campus.

Reservations are necessary due to limited seating; go to Westminster.edu/planetarium. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Here is the schedule:

  • “Supermassive Black Holes,” Feb. 5 and 14. This show presents the environments of black holes in an impressive and understandable way to the audience.
  • “We are Aliens!” Feb. 26 and March 7. This show takes the audience on an epic ride in the hunt for evidence of life on other planets.
  • “Drifting North: The Arctic Pulse,” March 26 and April 4. This show follows an international team of scientists on a yearlong expedition to the Arctic as they study the Arctic climate system and its future.
  • “Forward! To the Moon,” April 16 and 25. Kari Byron from “MythBusters” takes the audience on a journey beyond the Earth toward a sustainable future in space. 

Kravitz Deli to Honor Its Founder

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Kravitz Deli will present the 10th annual Rose Kravitz Birthday and Jewish Food Fest from Monday to Feb. 1.

Rose Kravitz was the founder of the deli, now owned by Matthew Rydarowicz.

A variety of extra large sandwiches and other items will be sold for $16.

“Kravitz started as a family business and continues that way,” Rydarowicz said. “To this day, some of our employees are second-generation family members from the original deli.” 

His sister Brianna is the manager of the Garden Café at Mill Creek MetroParks, and his mother leads Inspired Catering; each is part of the Kravitz company.

Hoyt Seeks Proposals for Art Exhibitions

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Arts & Education at the Hoyt is accepting proposals for solo and group art exhibitions for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.

Due to the historic nature of the facility, installations are discouraged. Artists living in the Mid-Atlantic region, defined as Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia and Virginia, will be given preference.

Submissions must include a description of the proposed body of work; 10 to 20 jpeg images; an image list, including titles, media and dimensions; a résumé or curriculum vitae; and a nonrefundable $25 review fee. Send to HoytArtCenter.org/solo-show

Stipends up to $500 are available to assist selected artists with shipping/transportation.
