World Ballet Company Coming to Packard

WARREN, Ohio – World Ballet Company’s production of “The Nutcracker” will come to Packard Music Hall on Dec. 1.

The performance will include a live orchestra,  over 150 hand-crafted costumes and a cast of world-class dancers.

YO Spotlight Concert Moved to Atkinson Center

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Because of the continuing construction project at Spring Common Park, the next YO Spotlight summer concert series concert has been moved to the Eugenia Atkinson Recreation Center, 903 Otis Ave.

It will take place at noon today and Thursday, said Deborah Benton, park event coordinator.

The headliner will be Roosevelt “Blaq Rose” Griffin Jr. The concert will also include Gwendolyn Cheatham and Tony Defoor singing soulful duets.

Admission is free.

The YO Spotlight concert series takes place weekly this summer. It is sponsored by the Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department. 

It will take place from noon to 2 p.m. each Wednesday in July and August with local and regional R&B, gospel and jazz artists. It caters to a predominantly senior citizen audience. 

The usual site is the Spring Commons Park, 534 Mahoning Ave. (commonly referred to as the B&O Station Park). 

Monday Night Writers Set Next Meeting

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The next meeting of Monday Night Writers will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. July 20 at Leana’s Books & More, 4417 Kirk Road.

Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to attend.

Led by author Nancy Christie, the meetings offer an opportunity for members to get group feedback on works-in-progress.

WARREN, Ohio – Dean Z, the Ultimate Elvis Christmas, will come to the Robins Theatre on Dec. 8 for a 7:30 p.m. concert.

Railroad Heritage Group at Big Boy Visit

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley Railroad Heritage Association will set up a display in downtown Struthers on Sunday at the festival that will accompany that day’s visit by the Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotive.

The MVRHA’s museum at 1340 Poland Ave. will also be open from late morning to midafternoon that day.

Pink Out Fest Organizers Warn of Scam

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Organizers of the annual Pink Out Mahoning Valley Music Festival are warning area vendors to beware of a scam that targets them.

At least one vendor has reported receiving an email from

vendorsspots@gmail.com directing him to fill out an application for the Pink Out. The email, which includes a link to a Google form, has no affiliation with Pink Out Mahoning Valley.

Pink Out does not accept vendor applications through Google forms.

Applications to reserve a vendor spot may be requested by emailing pinkoutmahoningvalley@gmail.com and communicating directly with vendor coordinator Ashley Lynn Kroll or organizer Jenah Shank.
