The Update | Mahoning Avenue Fest Returns; Monster Trucks, Steel Panther Tickets on Sale

YOUNGSTOWN – The treasures of Mahoning Avenue will be celebrated at the return of the sixth annual Mahoning Avenue Fall Fest, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, between Steel Street and McKinley Avenue in the West Side’s Garden District.

This year’s fest will feature a host of family-friendly activities, including:

  • Trek Coffee House sneak peak.
  • Corn roast.
  • Pumpkin patch.
  • Baked goods.
  • Antique sale.
  • Flea.
  • Trash & treasure sale.
  • Arts & crafts.
  • Music jam session.
  • Paisley House garage sale.
  • Rocky Ridge Neighborhood Association cotton candy.

Hackett’s Pub and Casa Ramirez will give away Fall Fest 6th Anniversary commemorative pint glasses with a beverage purchase (while supplies last). There will also be a pumpkin patch.

The fall fest’s goal is to demonstrate the vibrancy of the community and try to catalyze more permanent improvements in the future that will support and promote local artists and businesses. The recent investment by Trek Coffee House and Voyager Beverages as well as continued improvements by existing anchors Casa Ramirez and Hackett’s Pub are a direct result of successful past events.

Supporters of the event include the City of Youngstown, 4th Ward Councilman Mike Ray, Garden District Neighborhood Association, Rocky Ridge Neighborhood Association, Paisley House, City of Youngstown Community Police, Casa Ramirez, Hackett’s Pub, Trek Coffee House, Voyager Beverages and Economic Action Group Inc.

Monster Trucks Coming to Covelli

YOUNGSTOWN – The Toughest Monster Truck Tour will return to Covelli Centre for two shows, Feb. 3 (7:30 p.m.) and Feb. 4 (6 p.m.).

Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 30, at ticketmaster.com and the Covelli box office. All seats will be discounted by $5 and include a free pit pass ($10 value) if purchased through Oct. 9.

The Pit Pass gets fans in early for the Pit Party where they can walk on the track, see the trucks up close, meet the drivers, get autographs and take photos.

“Our entire crew always looks forward to returning to Youngstown,” said Kelly Hess Goldman, the event promoter. “This year’s event will include a brand-new monster truck, Dozer, never seen before in Youngstown.”

Dozer is a bulldozer-themed monster truck.

The lineup will also include the dump truck-themed Dirt Crew, Tailgator, Buckshot and more.

Steel Panther Coming to Packard Hall

WARREN, Ohio – Rock parody act Steel Panther will make its Mahoning Valley debut on Nov. 29 when it brings its Claus and Paws Holiday Party tour to Packard Music Hall.

Tickets range from $69.75 to $29.75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at ticketmaster.com and the Packard box office.

An online-only presale will take place Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; use the password PACKARD.

Steel Panther was formed in Los Angeles in 2000 and has since released four albums.

It has made numerous high-profile television appearances and garnered millions of Youtube views for its videos that spoof the hair metal era.
