NILES, Ohio – The Miss Americanas, a Taylor Swift tribute show, will perform at Eastwood Field at 7 p.m. Aug. 1.
The family-friendly concert celebrates the music and eras of Swift with full-band arrangements, unexpected mashups and a rock edge that sets it apart from traditional tribute shows. The act played at the stadium last summer.

Fireworks Displays in Lawrence County
NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Several fireworks displays will take place in Lawrence County this summer.
Here is the schedule:
- July 3: Brittain Lake, on the campus of Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., 9:15 p.m. The evening will begin with live music by River City Brass Band at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be accepted. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and arrive early as the event is well-attended. A variety of food vendors will be on the site.
- July 4-6: Ellwood City Festival, with fireworks at 10 p.m. July 6, at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park.
- July 11-13: Slovenefest at SNPJ Recreation Center, 270 Martin Road, Enon Valley. Fireworks on July 12 at dusk.
- July 12: Fireworks Fest, downtown New Castle, fireworks at 10 p.m.
- July 19: Enon Valley Community Day, fireworks at 10 p.m.
- July 26: Bessemer Community Day, fireworks at dusk.
- Aug. 11-16: Lawrence County Fair, fireworks Aug. 16 at dusk.
PBS Western Reserve Staffers Honored
KENT, Ohio – Several staff members of PBS Western Reserve (WNEO/WEAO) television shared in winning 2024 Emmy Awards from the Central Great Lakes chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The series “City Centric” and “The World According to Polka” each received awards at the ceremony June 21 in Indianapolis.
“City Centric” received the Emmy Award in the category of Magazine Program for its second season. The series explores the region’s cities and towns through the lens of local leaders. It was executive produced by Ryan Donchess, director of content; produced by Sophia Gillespie, associate producer of content; and co-produced by Youngstown creatives Skully Media Co.
Jacob Kouwe received his second award in the Performer, Host, Narrator category for his performance in Season 2 of “The World According to Polka.” The series follows the Chardon Polka Band across northeastern Ohio and explores the history and culture of polka.
Gary Manke, senior producer/director of content, was awarded the prestigious Gold Circle Award for his contributions to the industry for more than 50 years.
Artificial Intelligence Expert to Speak
COLUMBIANA, Ohio – Artificial intelligence expert Eric Keylor will lead a discussion on what is new in his field during a noon lunch and learn session Saturday, July 26, at Columbiana Women’s Club, 121 N. Main St.
Attendees will delve into the latest AI technologies, including hands-on experimentation with language models on their smartphones. Keylor is an AI workforce development engineer at Carnegie Mellon University.

Softball Tournament to Honor Late Airman
LIBERTY, Ohio – The fifth annual Justin R. House softball tournament will take place at 10 a.m. July 12 at the Liberty Township Baseball Fields, 1315 Churchill Hubbard Road.
The event honors the late Justin R. House, a firefighter and U.S. Airman whose life was lost to suicide.
Partial proceeds will benefit the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. The tournament will also benefit Stop Soldier Suicide.

Fine Arts Council Fundraiser
WARREN, Ohio – The Fine Art Council of Trumbull Counties’ Matter of FACT fundraiser will take place from 6-9 p.m. July 19 at Modern Methods Brewing and the Darlene Lounge on Courthouse Square.
It will feature live music, local food, an art auction and live painting.
