BOARDMAN, Ohio – Movies 8, a discount theater, will permanently close. Its final day will be Dec. 31, according to a post on social media Tuesday evening by co-owner Paige DeCiancio.
The theater reported several weeks ago that its business was not doing well and that it might have to close.
“I can’t begin to explain the devastating feeling, DeCiancio said in her post. “We want to say thank you for your support over the last 11 years. We knew [discount pricing] was important for people because life’s expensive …” She said Movies 8 does not have the financial ability to improve its theater as its competitors have with reclining seats, alcohol and more food options.
Her company still owns the Skyway Drive-in in Warren, which is closed until spring.
