YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The New Music Guild’s annual winter concert, featuring the duo of Brendan and Karen Considine, will take place at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in the social hall of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 343 Via Mount Carmel.

Brendan is a violinist who performs with both the Youngstown and Greenville symphony orchestras, the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra and the Opera Western Reserve orchestra. He is an educator who has worked in the Youngstown and Alliance school systems, and also the Rich Center. He is currently executive director of Mahoning Valley Montessori School.

His wife, Karen, is a pianist and violinist who performs with the Youngstown and Greenville orchestras, Warren Philharmonic and Stellare Strings. 

The concert will open with performances by New Music Guild coordinators Gwyneth Rollin, violin, and Robert Rollin, piano. 

Jamey Johnson Coming to Packard Hall 

WARREN, Ohio – Singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson will come to Packard Music Hall on June 12.

Friendly Squares Set Monthly Dance

NILES, Ohio – The Friendly Squares’ monthly square dance will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Niles Scope Center, 14 E. State St.

Neil Harner will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will cue the line dances. Admission is $7.

Writers Group Sets Next Meeting

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Monday Night Writers will meet at 5 p.m. March 17 at Leana’s Books and More, 4317 Kirk Road.

Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to attend. The meetings are led by author Nancy Christie and offer the opportunity for writers to get group feedback on works-in-progress.
