YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Opera Western Reserve will present a special dinner event featuring a performance of “Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night” on Thursday, May 29, at Stambaugh Auditorium’s Christman Memorial Hall.

The performance, directed by Scott Skiba, will showcase OWR Emerging Artist and Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory senior Kate Tiemens as Aurelia Havisham, a character drawn from Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations.”

Premiered by the Minnesota Opera in 1981, the show will bring the drama of Dickens’ world to life, while adding a new dimension to the beloved literary classic.

The evening will feature a buffet dinner and a cash bar. It will begin with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. and the performance at 7:15 p.m.

Armstrong Consolidates Local Programming

BUTLER, Pa. – Armstrong has improved its Neighborhood Channel, which now offers more locally produced content.

Over the past few months, the cable company has brought together programming from its many regional Neighborhood channels into a combined offering that showcases the best content from across the Armstrong footprint. Previously available to only EXP Stream subscribers, this enhanced channel provides customers with 24/7 local programming.

The Neighborhood Channel connects viewers with the people, places and events that matter to the community. It includes coverage of parades and other events, original music and specialty shows.

The Neighborhood Channel is also available on YouTube, where it features playlists organized by region, as well as by each show, and serves as an archive for Armstrong Neighborhood Channel content. Armstrong’s EXP Stream subscribers can access the playlist for their local system directly by visiting channel 100.

Children’s Theater Show at Grove City College

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College’s Theatre Program will present the Hilda Adam Kring Children’s Theater production of “Honk!” at 7 p.m. April 3-4 and 11 a.m. April 5 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.

The show is free and open to the public. No tickets are required for attendance.

“Honk!,” a musical based on the story of the ugly duckling, follows Ugly, a swan mistaken for a duckling after falling into his mother’s nest. With the help of his mother, Ida, his father, Drake, and several other barnyard friends, he goes on several adventures that lead him to learn who he really is.

Single-Game Tickets for the Scrappers on Sale Friday

NILES, Ohio – Single-game tickets for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at MVScrappers.com, by phone at 330 505 0000 and at the Eastwood Field box office. 

Single-game ticket prices start at $7.

The Scrappers will play 40 home games during the 2025 season from June to the end of August, starting with the June 4 game against the State College Spikes, which starts at 7:05 p.m. A full promotional schedule for the 2025 season will be announced soon. Ticket packages are on sale now on the team’s website.

Auditions for ‘Almost, Maine’ at Playhouse

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Auditions for “Almost, Maine,” the final show of the Youngstown Playhouse’s 100th anniversary season, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, and from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 6, in the theater’s Moyer Room.

The play is being directed by Mario Ricciardi. Due to the large cast, callbacks will be from 6-8 p.m. April 9. Performance dates are June 6-15.

Kids Summer Camp Will Return

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Kids Summer Camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 9 to Aug. 8, at Wick Park, 260 Park Ave.

The free program is for children ages 5 to 13. It  features a variety of activities, including swimming, sports, arts and crafts and more. The camp provides a safe and active environment where kids can learn new skills, make friends and enjoy the outdoors.

Preregistration is now open. Applications can be picked up at the parks department in City Hall, downtown, and at the Atkinson Recreational Center, 903 Otis St.In addition, the department is hiring camp staff for the summer.
