Loop Seeks Applicants for Artist Fellowship
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – With the recent acquisition of its new building, Loop Youngstown Arts and Culture Center is accepting applications for its Emerging Artist Fellowship, a program designed to support artists in the early stages of their careers.
This fellowship is intended for artists working in the visual or literary arts within roughly their first 10 years of serious practice. They may still be developing a substantial body of work but are actively shaping their artistic voice and building experience through exhibitions, performances, publications, grants or awards.
Running from June 1 through April 30, 2027, the fellowship offers selected artists a free studio at Loop Youngstown’s new arts space at 805 Mahoning Ave., along with a monthly stipend for materials and supplies. Fellows will work with Loop staff to develop opportunities for public engagement and participate in professional development and networking activities.
“The leap from emerging to established artist normally requires courage, determination and a bit of luck,” said Karen Schubert, chairperson. “But in these volatile times, it’s critically important we offer a hand up.”
The deadline to apply is May 1. Applicants must be at least 21 years old by the fellowship start date and may not be currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, a degree-granting program during the fellowship period. For information, go to LoopYoungstown.org.
