AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Pink Out Mahoning Valley 2025, an all-day music festival, will take place Oct. 5 at Austintown Township Park amphitheater.
The annual music festival will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by celebrating survivors and remembering those lost to cancer.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, coolers with snacks and refreshments, and to wear pink.
The Pink Out concert, in its third year, is a gathering of those whose lives have been touched by cancer and those who want to support them. It will feature a full lineup of musical artists and a variety of vendors and concessions. It gets underway at noon.
The musicians include Silver Springs: A Fleetwood Mac Experience, One Fine Day, Rachell Joy, Julie Benner, Solo Sixstring, the David Ward Project, Mark Mecozzi, Local Notes, Becky Kimble, Jen Carey, David Olsavsky, Jenah Shank, Ethan McNulty, David Granati, the Fitch Rock Band, Sue Lovato, Jonathan O’Connor and The Pink Out All Star Band. The Vindys will make a special guest appearance, performing a short acoustic set.

African American History Tour of Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – African Americans have played a major role in the foundation, settlement and development of the city of Youngstown. To honor this history, a tour will take place Sept. 6.
Leading the event will be historian Vince Shivers, historian Sean Posey, genealogist Stacey Adger and Civil War reenactor Steffon Jones. Cherise Benton, a poet, will lend a contemporary voice to the event. The tour will make stops at historically significant locations, including Oak Hill Cemetery, The Rayen School and Youngstown City Parks.
The free tour will begin at 9 a.m. at Tyler History Center, downtown, and end at 4 p.m. It will include lunch. Transportation by bus to historic sites will be provided. The tour will require participants to walk distances outdoors on uneven ground, and up and down stairs. Attendees under age 15 must be accompanied by an adult, and seating is limited to 100 participants. To register, go to LitYoungstown.org.
Event to Honor Emmett Till at Tyler History Center
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – An event to honor the life of Emmett Till, whose 1955 slaying is said to have marked the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement, will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown.
It is sponsored by Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past and Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
Guest speakers will be Keith Beauchamp, filmmaker and civil rights advocate; and Dale Killinger, the FBI agent who investigated Till’s murder.
Admission is free to the public.
Food Truck at Geneva State Park Beach
GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio – The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake’s Horizons Restaurant has launched a food truck that offers grilled favorites, perch tacos, a brisket sandwich, a buffalo chicken wrap, loaded nachos, drinks and snacks. It will be at Geneva State Park beach from noon to 4 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through mid-September.
“The new Horizons food truck is the first purchase made possible through the reinvestment of visitor-generated revenues, putting those dollars right back into enhancing the visitor’s experience,” said Ashtabula County Commissioner Casey Kozlowski.
