WARREN, Ohio – An exhibition of works by Youngstown artist Daniel Rauschenbach will open March 8 at Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., and run through April 18.

An opening day reception will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rauschenbach draws inspiration from the natural world, creating landscapes that resonate with the viewer’s imagination. His work is characterized by bold colors that evoke serenity, joy and wonder; intricate patterns; and a distinct sense of movement that reflects the ever-changing dynamics of nature.

Winners of Black Playwrights Contest 

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Playhouse will announce the winners of its contest for new works by local Black playwrights during the intermission of Sunday’s performance of “Gem of the Ocean.”

The play starts at 2:30 p.m. 

First place will receive $300; second place, $200; and third place, $100. All three plays will be staged during the Juneteenth Festival of New Works on June 19 in the Moyer Room at the Playhouse.

They will also be presented June 20 at McGuffey Center on Jacobs Road.

The contest began last September, when the Playhouse and McGuffey Center offered workshops to inspire Black playwrights to submit new works. 

Info Session on Getting Arts Council Grants

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Loop Youngstown will present a free information session on Ohio Arts Council grants, led by Kathy Signorino and Chaz O’Neil, from 2 to 4 p.m. March 22 at the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County’s Main Library, 305 Wick Ave.

The session will address best practices, application requirements and review processes. The next grant deadline for project support is May 1.
