Tickets on Sale for ‘Urinetown’ at Playhouse

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Tickets are on sale for the Youngstown Playhouse’s production of “Urinetown, the Musical.”

The show, directed by Nate Beagle, will be staged May 29-June 7.

The show takes place in the not-so-distant future, when private bathrooms have been outlawed due to a 20-year drought. To conserve water, citizens must do their private business for a fee at public toilets owned by The Urine Good Company (UGC) Corporation. If citizens fail to comply, the maximum penalty is to be banished to a place called Urinetown. When the fee is raised, a young dreamer from the poor side of town leads an uprising against UGC’s tyranny.

“Urinetown” is high satire that parodies authoritarian politics, classism, oligarchy and musical theater itself.

The cast includes Ben Bogen, Becca Campbell, Patty Carr, Chey Carr, Colleen Chance, Craig Conrad, Rachael Conrad, Kage Coven, Hannah DeRenzis, Mary Dippolito, Ben Doss, Rachel Franek, Alex Imwalle, Brooke Jonas, Logan Kaminski, Alyssa Moore, Arcale Peace, Caitlyn Santiago, Andy Scott, Marissa Scott, Peter Sherman, Kathryn Stanton, Tyler Stouffer, Brian Suchora, John Webber and Sarah Whitlatch.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday performances are at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $17 to $27, not including box office fees, and can be purchased at YoungstownPlayhouse.org, by phone at 330 259 9651, or at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, 260 W. Federal St.
