WARREN, Ohio – The inaugural Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival will take place Oct. 4 at Warren Community Amphitheater. The all-day event will include a lineup of blues musicians, including headliner Shemekia Copeland.

Tickets are just $10 per person, including children, and are available to purchase online at 717cu.com/blues. Beginning Aug.15, tickets can also be purchased at any 717 credit union branch, Sunrise Inn in Warren, and the information desk at Eastwood Mall in Niles.

Proceeds from the festival, which is presented by 717, will benefit United Way of Trumbull County, Game Changers Inc. and the Warren-Youngstown Urban League.

“This is more than just a festival – it’s a way for us to give back, lift up our neighbors, and celebrate the spirit of Warren,” said Dorian Smith, senior vice president of business development at 7 17 Credit Union. “We’re excited to create something fun and meaningful that supports the people and places that make this region great.”

 In addition to Copeland, the musical lineup will include “King” Solomon Hicks, Damian Knapp, Cleveland’s Backstreet Blues Band, Sacksville Rhythm & Blues Band, Jazz in the Park Allstars, Norman Nardini, Aaron McCoy and Friends, and Warren Community Gospel Choir.

Beer and bourbon will be available, and barbecue vendors will be on site. 

New Wilmington Talent Show Seeks Contestants

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The third annual New Wilmington’s Got Talent competition will take place Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Borough Park amphitheater.

Participants ages 21 and under can showcase their talent in music, comedy and other genres as solo artists, duos or part of a group.

Admission is free.

The competition will feature a panel of local celebrity judges who will score performances based on creativity, skill and stage presence. Cash prizes, including a $250 grand prize, will be awarded. Audience members will select the Fan Favorite award winner.

Students in the Wilmington Area School District and who are currently enrolled at Westminster College will also get preference, although all eligible youth are welcome to apply.

Greatest Golfer Tournament at Mill Creek Park 

BOARDMAN, Ohio – The annual Greatest Golfer of the Valley tournament will take place Friday, Aug. 8, at Mill Creek Golf Course.

The amateur golf event brings together some of the best local talent and showcases the beauty of Mill Creek’s historic course.

Both the North and South golf courses will be closed to the public from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Public play will resume after 6 p.m.

Christmas Concert with Chris Young at Packard

WARREN, Ohio – It Must Be Christmas: An Acoustic Evening With Chris Young will come to  Packard Music Hall on Dec. 6.

The acoustic by the country singer will feature holiday favorites and hits in a cozy setting.

Broadway-style Christmas Show at Stambaugh

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Christmas in the Air, a family friendly Broadway-style holiday show featuring Rockettes-style dancers, singers and actors, and a visit from Santa Claus, will come to Stambaugh Auditorium on Dec. 5.

MVHS Seeks History Organizations for Founders Day

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Sept. 5 at its Founders Day open house at Tyler History Center. 

This year’s event will be in partnership with the monthly First Friday social event in downtown Youngstown. It will highlight the past, present and future, and celebrate the history and culture of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. 

The event will include live music, food trucks, community organizations, and open houses at local businesses.

As part of this year’s festivities, MVHS is hosting a Local History Fair. All local historical organizations are invited to participate. Each organization will have a table in the Thomas Ballroom at Tyler History Center to help share their mission with the public. E-waste Collection Drive and Vendor Fair

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill Ave., will have an e-waste collection drive Friday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a vendor fair on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 11a.m. – 3 p.m.

People can drop off technology that is unwanted, broken or needs recycling. Items that are free to drop off inclujde laptops, PCs, DVD players, MP3 players, gaming consoles, routers, hard drives, keyboards, wires, scanners, LCD monitors, servers, cameras and other technology.

Three items have disposal fees: printers are $10, and CRT monitors and TVs are $20 each. All funds go toward the devices’ disposal and must be paid in cash.

Items that cannot be dropped off include home medical equipment and kitchen appliances.

The following day, OHC will offer a free vendor fair.

Hosted by Trina Williams, owner and founder of A Fresh Wind Catering, the event will feature live music from TaeShawn Madison, and kid’s crafts, such as tie-dye and painting.

Vienna Home Day at Bicentennial Park

VIENNA, Ohio – Vienna Home Day will take place Saturday, Aug. 9, at Bicentennial Park, 4265 Warren Sharon Road, featuring old fashioned games, food and drink, a farmer’s market, contests and more.

It will begin with a parade at 11 a.m. that will start at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and march through Vienna Center to the park. The event ends at 3 p.m.

The Mathews School District marching band will perform and clubs will showcase their talent. There will also be bounce houses, foam parties and live music.
