SHARON, Pa. – The annual Sláinte Sharon St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 14.

The parade, named after the Gaelic toast Sláinte (Slawn-cha) – or To Your Health – will begin at the Penn State Shenango campus and end at Quaker Steak & Lube.

It is presented by Quaker Steak & Lube, in partnership with the city of Sharon.

The parade will be followed by a marketplace at Quaker Steak & Lube, a Blessing of the Pets, award announcements and a performance by the band Five Deep from 6-9 p.m.

The annual Lucky Duck race will take place before the parade at 3 p.m.

Those who want to participate can purchase a ticket that will bear the number of their rubber duck. The price is $10.

The numbered ducks will be tossed into the Shenango River at Connelly Boulevard Bridge next to Quaker Steak & Lube. The finish line will be at the Sugar Shack at the rear of the Quaker Steak & Lube parking lot. The winning duck will receive half the funds raised, with the remainder going to charity.

Lucky Duck race tickets can be purchased at Quaker Steak; Allie’s Sweet Tooth, 47 E. State St.; Gifted at Applegate, 36 N. Sharpsville Ave.; and Warehouse Sales, 220 Silver St.; all of Sharon.

Quaker Steak and Lube’s all-day St. Patrick’s Day party will take place Tuesday, March 17, with live music on three stages 

Fundraiser to Support Breast Cancer Battle

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Zeta Tau Alpha Youngstown Alumnae Chapter’s Pink Ribbon Dueling Piano Fundraiser will take place from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Maronite Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road.

Guests will enjoy an Italian dinner, dessert and live entertainment. A cash bar will be available, along with raffles and opportunities to win major prizes.

Proceeds will benefit breast cancer initiatives through the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and Pink Lights the Way.

YSU Jazz Combos in Concert

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The three Youngstown State University jazz combos will give a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in Spotlight Theater, on the bottom level of Bliss Hall, on Wick Avenue.

The concert will spotlight the ensembles led by Dave Kana, Kent Engelhardt and Glenn Schaft.

Kana’s Sextet will perform “Blue Skies” by Irving Berlin, “Time After Time” by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn and “Equinox” by John Coltrane.

Engelhardt’s Quintet will perform “Bags’ Groove” by Milt Jackson, “Django” by John Lewis and “Soul Sauce [Guachi Guaro]” by Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo.

Schaft’s Quartet will perform “One, Two, Three” by Glenn Schaft, “It Never Entered My Mind” by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart and “Impressions” by John Coltrane.

The event is free and open to the public.

Tri-County Heart Ball at Waypoint 4180

CANFIELD, Ohio – The Tri-County Heart Ball will take place Saturday, Feb. 28, at Waypoint 4180 in Westford Place.

The event will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. A program will follow dinner, with dancing and entertainment following at 9 p.m. Funds raised will support the American Heart Association. Click HERE to learn more.
