LISBON, Ohio – Stage Left Players will present Larry Shue’s award-winning comedy “The Foreigner” Oct. 4-19, with shows on Saturdays (7 p.m.) and Sundays (2 p.m.).
Directed by Elsie Kibler, “The Foreigner” tells the story of Charlie, a painfully shy Englishman seeking peace and quiet at a fishing lodge in rural Georgia. To avoid social interactions, his friend concocts a scheme: let the locals believe Charlie doesn’t understand English. The plan works a little too well, as the lodge’s colorful residents begin revealing their deepest secrets and wildest schemes right in front of him – leading to hilarious misunderstandings and unexpected twists.
The cast features Ryan Gillis as Charlie, plus Eric Kibler, Patti L’Italien, Dominic Meyer, Connie Baer, Lydon Freeman and Aaron Newell.

Sensory-Friendly Haunted House in Austintown
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Gateways to Better Living invites the entire community to its Not So Haunted House, a free, sensory-friendly Halloween experience designed for children and adults of all ages and abilities.
The event celebrates community inclusion by bringing together people with unique needs and families from across the community to enjoy Halloween.
The house is in Austintown Plaza, in a building that formerly housed Casal’s, next to the post office. It will be open for schools and providers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and for the public from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.
The event features interactive stations, walk-through adventures and lots of candy and goodies, including the luminous lagoon, Minecraft mystic island, monster munch, what’s in the box?, hocus pocus potion, pumpkin plinko and other attractions.
Costumes that are fun and friendly are encouraged.
Trick or Treat Night at Eastwood Field
NILES, Ohio – The Scrappers will present the annual Trick or Treat at Eastwood Field from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 22 (rain date is Oct. 23).
The event is for children age 12 and under. Children and adults will require tickets, which are $1 and available on a first come, first served basis.
Tickets can be purchased at the stadium box office. Anyone who donates nonperishable food items at the event for Feed Our Valley will receive a free general admission Scrappers ticket valid during the 2026 season.
Back for the 2025 Trick or Treat event is the Fast Pass, which includes admission for one child and two adults, and allows them to skip the line and enter at 5:45 p.m. The price is $10.
Shop for Fun in Downtown Sharon, Pa.
SHARON, Pa. – Downtown Sharon is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the spooky season in style with a Halloween Hunt in October.
Guests can join the hunt by printing a Halloween Hunt Card at home (from SharonPA.com) or picking one up from any of the 21 participating businesses. Then it’s time to explore downtown Sharon, shop and search for hidden “hunt items” inside local businesses. At each stop, ask a business representative to initial your card to mark your find.
Completed cards should be returned to Dani Johnson at The Wandering Soul (142 E. State St.) by Oct. 30. The more businesses you visit, the more chances you’ll have to win.
On Halloween, four winners will be randomly drawn to receive a Sharon gift card, redeemable at participating Sharon businesses.
Dave Dravecky to Describe Life at Ford Hall
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Former Major League Baseball pitcher and Boardman native Dave Dravecky will return home to share his journey during an event at 7 p.m. at the Ford Family Recital Hall, downtown.
Admission is free, but reservations are required through DeyorPAC.org.
This event is presented as part of the Mahoning County Bar Association Foundation’s speaker series.
Dravecky, a standout left-handed pitcher for the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants, was on track for an outstanding career when his life changed dramatically. Diagnosed with cancer in his pitching arm, he faced multiple surgeries and eventually the amputation of his arm. Through it all, his determination, courage and strong faith carried him forward.
Following his baseball career, Dravecky and his wife, Jan, turned adversity into action, creating Endurance, a nonprofit ministry that supports individuals and families navigating life’s toughest challenges. Today, he is a best-selling author and nationally recognized speaker, known for delivering powerful messages of resilience and hope.
Eye Ball at Eastwood Event Centre
NILES, Ohio – The annual Eye Ball of the Mahoning Valley will take place Nov. 15 at the Eastwood Event Centre.
Sight for All United will present an enchanting evening cruise where every ticket purchase helps navigate families toward accessible vision care. The elegant fundraising gala includes dinner, dancing, live entertainment and treasures.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a wine pull and silent auction showcasing trips around the world, courtesy of AmFund. The program will then begin promptly at 7 p.m. with a live auction and paddle raise. At 8 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy the remainder of the evening with dancing and live music from The Houseband and Mia Iaderosa, along with additional activities.
