WARREN, Ohio – The Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave. on Courthouse Square, will present its annual Trees at the Gallery holiday marketplace from Nov. 14-Jan. 4.

The event will feature a curated group of vendors showcasing unique handcrafted gift items, including art, jewelry, seasonal and holiday décor and more. Additional items are on display and available for purchase in the TAG Gift Shop.

Local artists were asked to design holiday tree displays made from materials such as artificial greenery, wood, metal, wire, ceramic and fabric to showcase their merchandise.

Beginning Nov. 20, the show will be open Wednesday through Saturday throughout the holiday season.

In addition to a holiday tree raffle featuring a fully decorated tree, visitors can also enter a second raffle to win a collection of handcrafted ornaments donated by each participating artist. A third raffle will feature a TAG gift certificate that can be used to purchase an item in the Gift Shop or gallery or used toward a TAG class. The drawings will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21. Winners do not need to be present to win.

An opening reception will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30.

In addition to music, holiday treats and hot cocoa, guests can take advantage of two free holiday art projects: holiday cards at noon and painting at 2 p.m.

Eastwood Mall Plans a Day of Family Fun

NILES, Ohio – Eastwood Mall will celebrate the start of the holiday season with music, magic and memorable family activities Saturday, Nov. 9.

The festive celebration will begin at noon and will feature performances and giveaways.

The Salvation Army will set the stage in the mall’s Center Court by launching its Red Kettle campaign. Ballet Western Reserve will then perform scenes from “The Nutcracker”, followed by local school choirs singing holiday classics.

The highlight will be a performance from Castle on a Cloud Entertainment, with a show featuring Santa’s elves tracking him down on his Caribbean vacation and working their magic to bring him back to Eastwood Mall.

Elsewhere in the mall will be a pop-up indoor ice-skating rink near the kid’s play area, where families can warm up with hot cocoa and cookies after they skate.

At the northeast mall entrance near DentalWorks and Tuxedo Junction, visitors can enjoy free carriage rides around the mall from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10.

Magic Polar Experience for Kids at Packard Hall

WARREN, Ohio – The Magic Polar Experience, a fun holiday season event for kids, will take place Dec. 21 at Packard Music Hall.

The event will include a screening of the movie, with live characters and dancers. There will also be a visit from Santa Claus, photo opportunities and other surprise visitors.

Tickets are $25 (VIP tickets, $39). Optional Polar Packs are an additional $25 and include magic popcorn balls, a nonspill beverage, a gourmet chocolate chip cookie, an engineer’s hat and train whistle, a keepsake Believe Bell ornament and a commemorative hot cocoa mug.

Senior Showcase Talent Show at Robins Theatre

WARREN, Ohio – The Senior Showcase talent show will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Robins Theatre.

The show, which debuted last year, features local singers, magicians, dancers, musicians, skits and other acts.

Senior Showcase is a production company that focuses on those who are age 55 and over.

Westminster College Ensemble in Concert

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College Wind Ensemble will present a fall concert, “Praises,” featuring three guest student conductors at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in Orr Auditorium. Admission is free.

Student conductors Jeremy Beckinger, Ryan Bramson and Shelby Pocono will lead the ensemble alongside Aaron Himes, Westminster’s newly appointed director of bands and coordinator of music education. The three students were winners of the School of Music’s Young Conductors Competition held earlier this year.

Local Author to Speak, Sign Books

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Thomas Welsh, local historian and author, will be the guest speaker at the Liberty Community and Historical Society’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Township Administration Hall,1315 Churchill Hubbard Road. 

The public is welcome, and admission is free.

Welsh will share insights into the life and career of the late developer William M. Cafaro from his 2021 biography, “The Life and Times of William M. Cafaro: A Man for All Seasons.” Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the biography, which Welsh will sign.

Welsh is also the co-author of several acclaimed historical narratives about Youngstown, including:

  • “Strouss’: Youngstown’s Dependable Store” (History Press, 2012).
  • “Classic Restaurants of Youngstown” (History Press, 2014).
  • “A History of Jewish Youngstown, the Steel Valley” (History Press, 2017).

Stambaugh Youth Concert Band to Perform

Joy of Christmas Seeks Gingerbread Houses

COLUMBIANA, Ohio – The Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau’s Joy of Christmas Light Show is seeking community involvement for the gingerbread house display, which will run from Nov. 22-Dec. 28 in Firestone Park.

This year’s theme is Candyland. Gingerbread houses can be crafted by children, families, businesses or organizations, including professional bakeries/chefs, and take the shape of homes, scenes, storefronts and more. Each display must be listed by individual, family or business name.

Registration is required by Nov. 8. The fee is $5 per entry. Completed houses and business cards or signage must be brought to the Gingerbread House (Spruce Tunnel Pavilion near Funland) in the park on Nov. 12 or 13.
