WARREN, Ohio – The opening reception for the Trumbull Art Gallery-Random Acts of Artists annual exhibition will take place from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.
The award winners will be announced at 7 p.m.
The exhibition includes works by 64 artists. Its juror was Maria Ferguson, director of Bruce Gallery at PennWest University-Edinboro.
The gallery is at 158 N. Park Ave. on Courthouse Square.
High School Football Preview and Wing Contest
SHARON, Pa. – Original Quaker Steak & Lube, 101 Chestnut Ave., downtown, in partnership with Sports 96.7/Sports Radio Z104, will present the inaugural Mercer County High School Football Preview and Wing Eating Contest this Saturday, Aug. 15.
The event will start at 5 p.m., featuring player and coach interviews with Bob Greenburg and the team of Sports 96.7/Sports Radio Z104. Currently, 10 local teams throughout the region will be represented during the preview.
After team interviews, three contestants per school will take to the stage for the hot wing eating contest. The winner will take home the Golden Gridiron Gizzard Trophy. Members of each school’s fan base are invited to help cheer on their team.
A mascot dance-off will follow, with music by DJ Tom of Moonlight Karaoke and a bonfire.
Panerathon Team Registration Deadline
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Teams planning to participate in the 17th annual Panerathon must complete their team registration by noon Friday, Aug. 14.
The race supports the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.
Panerathon will take place Aug. 23 in downtown Youngstown. Teams can register HERE.
Holborn Herb Growers Set Annual Tea Party
BOARDMAN, Ohio – The Holborn Herb Growers Guild’s annual tea party will take place from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Lariccia Family Community Center in Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road.
This year’s festivities will feature the sampling of herbal teas and both savory and sweet delicacies. Guests can also tour the Summer Kitchen herb gardens behind St. James Meeting Place. The guest speaker will be Jenny Wehr, owner and florist of The Willows by Wehr, who will demonstrate a tutorial floral design.
As a keepsake of the event, souvenir tea cups and saucers will be gifted to each visitor. There will also be basket raffles.
