NILES, Ohio – Trumbull New Theatre will launch its 2025-26 season this weekend with “Boeing Boeing,” a fast-paced 1960s farce. Performances will take place on weekends from Sept. 5-21.
Performances of all titles will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays during their run. The theater is at 5883 Youngstown Road.

Punk Flea Event in Downtown Warren
WARREN, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley Punk Flea will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, downtown. Admission is free.
Part flea market, part music festival and an all-out punk experience, the event will feature:
- Dozens of vendors offering everything from art, books, vintage and handmade goods to vegan treats and oddities in three locations: The Darlene Lounge, Modern Methods Brewing Co. and The Underground.
- Five bands performing in Modern Methods and The Underground Lounge (basement of the Best Western Hotel). They include The Frantic Nancys, Pink Maskerade, Wasted Society, Proud House of Shmucks and The Hazards.
- A donation-based mohawk hair-cutting station with barber Ryan Obertots.
- An exclusive brew from Modern Methods Brewing Co., with proceeds supporting Thrive Mahoning Valley, a nonprofit dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming community.
“Punk Flea is about more than just shopping and music,” said Cory Weddell, event organizer. “It’s about community – supporting local artists, small businesses and a nonprofit that helps strengthen our Valley.”
Confirmed vendors include Warren-Trumbull Library, Thrive Mahoning Valley, Ohio Solidarity Book Exchange, NecroThreads, Fatty Cakes Soap Co., Stroup Sweets, The Art of Matthew Adams, DS Kat and Crow Fine Arts, Bitchy Vegan Homo, Melusina Records, Myth and Stitch and more than two dozen additional artists, makers and community organizations.
Chili Cook-off at Vienna Fire Station
VIENNA, Ohio – Vienna Community Action Committee’s annual chili cook-off will take place from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the Vienna Fire Station.

A panel of judges will decide the winners in three categories: medium, mild and hot. Guests will enjoy chili and homemade desserts. There will also be a basket raffle and other games of chance.
All proceeds will benefit the VCAC, a nonprofit dedicated to building a community garden, hosting year-round holiday events, running The 1805 Closet (monthly clothing drive), supporting beautification projects across the township and other projects.
Author Nancy Christie to Sign Her Books
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Author Nancy Christie will sign copies of her Midlife Moxie series novels and her other books at five regional stores.

Auditions for ‘Christmas Carol’ at ACTS
SHARON, Pa. – Auditions for ACTS Performing Arts Center’s production of “A Christmas Carol,” directed by Maria Petrella-Ackley, will take place from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 14 and 18 at Forty Below, 40 S. Irvine Ave.
Actors in a wide variety of ages (12 to 75 years old) are sought for these well-known roles: adults, teens and children.
While not a full scale musical, there will be fiddle playing and singing. Auditionees should come prepared to sing 16 bars of “Deck the Halls” and “Silent Night.” Rehearsals will begin Sept. 29. Author to Speak on Experiences in South Korea
CANFIELD, Ohio – Thomas Welsh, local author and historian, will speak on his experiences living in South Korea in the 1990s at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road.
The event is sponsored by the Youngstown Torch Club.
As a reporter for The Korea Herald, one of the nation’s largest English-language newspapers, he witnessed a loosening of government media restrictions that enabled the paper to address topics that were previously considered taboo.
Since his return to the Youngstown area in the late 2000s, Welsh published a dissertation on Youngstown’s Catholic elementary schools, which he completed as a doctoral student at Kent State University, and co-authored three books on local history.

Dogs Can Swim in Pool at JCC Logan Campus
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will have a Pool Pawty on Sept. 6 at its Logan Campus, 3245 Logan Way.
Small dogs will be allowed to splash in the outdoor pool from 9-10:30 a.m., while larger dogs will be allowed from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
All dogs must be up to date on their shots, and no humans will be allowed in the pool.
The cost is $5 per family or a donation of an item to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.
