GIRARD, Ohio – Despite a challenging insurance market, Thompson Insurance Group grew by 25% in 2024, according to Dawn Lingenfelter, marketing director.
The family-owned-and-operated agency, established in 1947, took new measures to support its clients in response to premium rate increases and fluctuating markets, she says.
Throughout the year, the agency also engaged with the community, celebrated milestones and experienced growth within its subsidiaries: The Gibson Agency, Thompson Private Client Services, PetBizInsurance.com, and Gibson Agri & Equine Insurance.
Thompson Insurance Group worked closely with clients and insurance carriers to address rising premiums. It also implemented back-office procedures that better aligned each client’s insurance needs with its financial realities.
The agency further enhanced its offerings by adding several carriers to its roster, which expanded options for policyholders.
The highlight of 2024 was the loyalty displayed by the company’s long-term clients, Lingenfelter says.
“As the market shows signs of easing with lower premium increases and markets reopening, we recognize that business practices have permanently changed,” she says.
Throughout 2024, Thompson remained committed to philanthropy, supporting schools and nonprofits through donations and sponsorships. The company received several honors in 2024 and also took action to make the community a better place.
In March, Thompson Insurance Group was recognized at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s Family-Owned Business Dinner, where it was a finalist for the Huntington Social Impact Award.
On July 29, the agency held its annual community appreciation day, a carnival-style event with food trucks, entertainment and giveaways. The event is designed to thank the community for its support and solicit donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. More than 1,460 pounds of food and $1,000 were raised. Thompson’s long-time support of the food bank has contributed to the distribution of 28,379 total meals.
To close out the year, the agency hosted its third annual photos with Santa event in November. Paired with a toy drive benefiting the Warren Family Mission, more than 50 gifts for local families in need were raised at the event.
