GIRARD, Ohio – After nearly 50 years of leadership, David Thompson has transitioned ownership of Thompson Insurance Group to his son, Andrew Thompson.

“I’m incredibly grateful for everything my father has done through years of hard work, dedication and leadership to build and grow this company,” Andrew Thompson said. “His commitment to our clients, our team and our community has been a shared mission, something we’ve both worked to instill in the company. It’s been a true honor working side by side with him over the last 24 years, embracing all the knowledge he’s been willing to share. I can honestly say that I have learned from the best. I’m honored by the trust he has placed in me to carry that legacy forward, and I’m excited to lead Thompson Insurance Group into a new era.”

Though David Thompson is stepping back from ownership, he isn’t retiring. He will remain a full-time presence within the organization, continuing to offer his expertise and strategic insight to support Thompson Insurance Group’s ongoing growth and leadership as it enters its third generation of family ownership.

Andrew Thompson has gained hands-on experience across a wide range of roles in the company, from overseeing office operations to managing client relationships and internal processes across all four subsidiaries.

Thompson Insurance Group’s four subsidiaries are: 

  • The Gibson Agency, which provides personal and commercial insurance.
  • Thompson Private Client Services, which offers tailored solutions for high-net-worth individuals.
  • PetBizInsurance.com, which is dedicated to serving the needs of pet businesses and pet care professionals.
  • Gibson Agri & Equine Insurance, which specializes in coverage for agribusinesses and equestrian operations.
