POLAND, Ohio – Thrift & Thrive at the Farm will celebrate its second anniversary this week with special promotions, giveaways and refreshments.
Thrift & Thrive, located at 3279 E. Western Reserve Road, is a resale store that sells new and used donated goods such as holiday items, seasonal merchandise, clothing, antiques and home goods. It is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The store donates a portion of its proceeds monthly to local organizations such as Potential Development, Camp Frederick, Chi Alpha YSU, Free Three, Ohio Can Change Addiction Now, Ohio Valley Adult & Teen Challenge-Youngstown and Youngstown Blue Coats.
Jody Cercone, store operator, developed a passion for thrifting while raising funds for his daughter’s church mission trip, which sparked a seven-year venture known as Missions Marketplace in Coitsville. After retiring from his full-time position as a manufacturing representative in stage and studio lighting, Cercone discovered available space at Barth Farms and opened Thrift & Thrive in July 2023.
“After the church market closed, the flame never extinguished,” Cercone said. “Thrifting has been trending for some time, and I felt if we could do something good as a result, then we would all win.”
