WARREN, Ohio – The Trumbull County Historical Society is inviting children ages 6 to 12 to step into the past at this year’s Hands-On History Summer Camp.

The three-day camp will be held July 7-9 at Center Brook Manor, 8745 Painesville-Warren State Road, North Bloomfield, a verified stop on the Underground Railroad.

The camp will blend education and play, offering children an opportunity to explore local history through hands-on activities, crafts, games and storytelling at one of northeastern Ohio’s most significant historic properties.

“Center Brook Manor isn’t just a backdrop – it’s a living classroom,” said Ryan MacLennan, director of operations and outreach. “Kids will not only learn about history – they’ll live it.”

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and feature a unique historical theme:

  • Day One – Pioneer Life & the Revolutionary War: Children will play colonial games, dress up in period replica clothes and write with quills while exploring daily life in the 1700s.
  • Day Two – The Underground Railroad: Children will learn about the Underground Railroad on a local and national level and explore a real Underground Railroad site.
  • Day Three – Archaeology Day: Children will dig into simulated archaeological sites, analyze artifacts and create their own “mini museums” to understand how the past is uncovered.

The cost is $60 and includes all materials and activities. Parents can register HERE.
