WARREN, Ohio – Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull has announced that Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gray Goncz will take on the added roles of president and chief restructuring officer.
The hospital has parted ways with Cindy Russo, who was appointed president in 2022.
According to Insight’s announcement, Goncz has deep roots in the community, a background in clinical work, tremendous connectivity to all elements of the hospital and all the needed elements to transition the hospital, including as a physician executive, CMO and practice builder.
“We extend our gratitude to Cindy Russo for her years of service and the numerous contributions she made as a hospital executive in the region and specifically as president at Trumbull,” the announcement said. “Her leadership and dedication made a lasting impact on the hospital and community. … We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
An Insight spokesperson announced Tuesday that the transition services agreements for the Trumbull hospital and Insight Rehabilitation Hospital Hillside were sold by bankrupt Steward Health Care System to a third party, Golden Sun TSA Services LLC.
Insight, which acquired the Trumbull County hospitals in November, is continuing to seek a resolution to its inability to work with the new asset owner.
Patients who need their records at Insight Trumbull will still be able to obtain them by picking up a records request form in the main lobby at the hospital and turning it in at the registration desk.
As of Wednesday evening, Insight Trumbull still wasn’t accepting new inpatient admissions, except for behavioral health admissions.
The hospital emergency room remains open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide care, stabilize patients and provide transport if necessary. Additionally, the hospital continues to provide outpatient services, including outpatient surgery, cardiac cath procedures, imaging, lab, rehabilitation and other services.
Insight Rehabilitation Hospital Hillside continues to offer all inpatient and outpatient services at the main hospital, as well as its Austintown and Cortland outpatient locations.
The affiliated Insight Health Centers in Austintown and on Elm Road continue to offer outpatient services as well.
Ohio Minority Whip Rep. Nick Santucci, R-64th, said he’s aware of the situation at the hospitals and has been in communication with hospital representatives.
“Ensuring access to quality health care in Trumbull County is a top priority and I encourage Insight to work closely with the Ohio Department of Health to identify solutions that will allow the state to provide necessary support,” Santucci said in a statement. “My office stands ready to assist where appropriate to help protect healthcare access for residents of our region. I will continue monitoring this situation closely and advocating for the best possible outcome for our community.”
