WARREN, Ohio – Twist Brite, a family-owned business specializing in energy-efficient LED lighting solutions, officially opened its new headquarters Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Huntington Bank Building, 108 Main Ave.

The event marked a milestone for the company, which aims to revolutionize energy-efficient lighting while contributing to the region’s economic growth.

“I started in January with just a sketch on a napkin,” said John McDonald, the company’s founder. “Now I’m here in a facility with product.”

Twist Brite’s flagship product is a dimmable LED bulb featuring a built-in switch that allows users to adjust its wattage from 12 to 2 watts with a simple twist. McDonald said the design makes the bulb 95% more energy-efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs, setting Twist Brite apart as the most energy-efficient bulb on the market.

“It’s pretty much the lowest watts you can get on the market,” McDonald said.

The first batch of Twist Brite’s dimmable bulbs is now available at Andrews Shopping Center hardware store in Howland, Ohio. McDonald said he is in talks with a home outlet company, which has locations in 20 states, that is interested in carrying his product.

In addition to its current product, Twist Brite announced plans for its second innovation: an LED emergency bulb with a built-in switch.

The bulb can seamlessly transition between electrical and battery power, providing up to 24 hours of illumination during outages.

The emergency bulb is ready for mold production.

“It will probably take me about three months to finish building the mold for it to be perfect. It takes time,” McDonald said. The bulbs are manufactured in China, but McDonald said he hopes to one day build them in Warren.

He envisions a future where Twist Brite becomes a multibillion-dollar company that creates jobs, offers innovative solutions and contributes to the development of the Valley.
