YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Unemployment rates in Mahoning and Columbiana counties were down in April compared with the prior month, but Trumbull County saw an increase, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.

Trumbull County reported the highest rate among the three counties, with a 6.6% unemployment rate in April. That was up from 6.4% in March and up from 4.9% in April 2024.

Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in April was 5.7%, down from 6.1% in March but up from 4.7% in April 2024.

Columbiana County’s unemployment rate in April was 5.3%, down from 6.1% in March but up from 4.5% in April 2024.

The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 7% in March to 6.8% in April. The rate was up from 5.6% in April 2024.

The city of Warren’s unemployment rate increased from 7.5% in March to 8.4% in April. The rate was up from 5.6% in April 2024.
