YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Unemployment rates in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties were down in May compared with the prior month, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.
Trumbull County reported the highest rate among the three counties, with a 5.9% unemployment rate in May. That was down from 6.7% in April but up from 4.8% in May 2024.
Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in May was 5.3%, down from 5.7% in April but up from 4.7% in May 2024.
Columbiana County’s unemployment rate in May was 5.1%, down from 5.7% in April but up from 4.6% in May 2024.
The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 6.8% in April to 6.7% in May. The rate was up from 5.9% in May 2024.
The city of Warren’s unemployment rate decreased from 8.4% in April to 7.6% in May. The rate was up from 5.8% in May 2024.
