YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Unemployment rates in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties were down in August compared with the prior month, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.

Trumbull County reported the highest rate among the three counties, with a 6.2% unemployment rate in August. That was down from 6.7% in July but up from 5.2% in August 2024.

Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in August was 5.7%, down from 6.1% in July but up from 4.9% in August 2024.

Columbiana County’s unemployment rate in August was 5.4%, down from 5.8% in July but up from 4.7% in August 2024.

The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 8% in July to 7.5% in August. The rate was up from 6.2% in August 2024.

The city of Warren’s unemployment rate decreased from 9.2% in July to 8.3% in August. The rate was up from 6.6% in August 2024.
