YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Unemployment rates in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties were down in September compared with the prior month, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.
Trumbull County reported the highest rate among the three counties, with a 5.1% unemployment rate in September. That was down from 6.2% in August but up from 5% in September 2024.
Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in September was 4.7%, down from 5.7% in August and down from 4.8% in September 2024.
Columbiana County’s unemployment rate in September was 4.5%, down from 5.4% in August and down from 4.7% in September 2024.
The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 7.5% in August to 6% in September. The rate was unchanged from 6% in September 2024.
The city of Warren’s unemployment rate decreased from 8.3% in August to 6.7% in September. The rate was up from 6.3% in September 2024.
