WARREN, Ohio – Unemployment rates in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties were up in January compared with December 2025, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.

Trumbull County reported the highest rate among the three counties, with a 7% unemployment rate in January. That was up from 5.1% in December and 6.9% in January 2025.

Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in January was 6.5%, up from 4.8% in December but unchanged from January 2025.

Columbiana County’s unemployment rate in January was 5.5%, up from 4.6% in December but down from 6.5% in January 2025.

The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown increased from 6% in December to 8.5% in January. The rate in January 2025 was 7.5%.

The unemployment rate in the city of Warren increased from 6.3% in December to 9.4% in January. The rate in January 2025 was 7.8%.
