WARREN, Ohio – Oil production across eastern Ohio’s Utica/Point Pleasant shale reached a record high in 2025, climbing 39% to more than 48 million barrels from 34.5 million a year earlier, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Plus, more than half of U.S. residential builders are operating unprofitably when proper accounting adjustments are applied, according to the 2026 State of Residential Construction Industry Report.
