GIRARD, Ohio – A vacant building once occupied by a Rite Aid pharmacy has sold for $1.5 million and will be developed into a new pediatric dental office.

Ohio Kids Dental plans to open a new location at 713 N. State St., Mayor Mark Zuppo confirmed.

“Their goal is to serve an underserved community,” the mayor said. “They also do mobile dentistry, allowing a portable dental unit to visit schools and early learning centers.”

Ohio Kids Dental has opened or plans to open five new locations in Ohio. It recently opened new clinics in Cuyahoga Falls and Maumee, Zuppo said, and proposed sites include Girard, Hamilton and Springfield.

The mayor said he worked with real estate agents for approximately a year to fill the vacancy left in the wake of Rite Aid’s bankruptcy.

According to records from the Trumbull County Auditor’s office, the building and seven parcels sold for $1.5 million July 28. The buyer is listed as Panhornrebs LLC.

According to its website, Ohio Kids Dental offers specialized care to children. Its offices are equipped with games to keep youngsters occupied, and it even shows movies on the ceilings of its treatment rooms.

Phoenix-based Kids Dental Brands, the parent of Ohio Kids Dental, is a physician-owned network of more than 40 dental clinics across the country.
