Valley Businesses Invited to Participate in Kids Career Fair
CANFIELD, Ohio — Mahoning Valley businesses are invited to secure a table for the Kids Career Fair in February 2022 hosted by Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, and City Machine Technologies Inc.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at MCCTC at 7300 N. Palmyra Road. The Kids Career Fair will showcase career opportunities in the area that kids and parents may not know about. Visit MahoningCTC.com for more information and to register. The event is free and open to the public.
“Children are our future,” says Claudia Kovach, vice president of City Machine Technologies. “One day, they will be applying for jobs in town and wouldn’t it be nice to learn some ended up in their specific career field because they attended this event and learned about a new line of work that wasn’t taught at home or at school?”
The event coincides with Career and Technical Schools month in February, notes Jessica Cene, marketing and job placement coordinator at MCCTC.
“Exposing students to different careers at an early age is so critical and that’s why hosting career fairs geared towards a younger age group is necessary,” she says.
Participating businesses are asked to provide a fun table activity for kids during the event, as well as giveaways.
“It’s always better to see and touch a nut or a bolt that just learn about it from a picture, which is why this event will be so successful in helping students learn about new careers,” says Ralf Urbach, directer of education at Oh Wow.
