AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Valley-based singer-songwriter Jenah Shank has remixed and remastered her “New Road” album in time for its 25th anniversary.
Shank, accompanied by bandmate David Olsavsky, will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Paladin Brewing. The duo, and other local artists, will also perform at Austintown Community Day at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 behind Biker Brew House, 5700 Patriot Blvd.
“This has been an exciting time for me musically,” Shank said. “I’m working on projects and efforts I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Remixing ‘New Road’ and making it available to those who want it, in the format they prefer, has been a long-time goal for me. We’ve gotten a lot of great responses to having ‘New Road’ on vinyl.”
And like it explains on the album cover, Shank is exploring a new path with “New Road 2025,” a refreshed version of 10 original songs first recorded in the late 1990s.
“I’ve taken different paths when it comes to the music, and my writing in general, but I’ve always continued to move in a singular direction of realizing who I am and the woman God created me to be,” Shank explained.
The original album was made with David Granati. The updated mix includes him and original collaborators Hermie Granati, Tracey Whorton, Nickie Keaggy and Jonathan O’Connor.
“New Road 2025” is available on vinyl and CD and will be added to Shank’s streaming service pages.
Shank has performed at numerous benefit efforts and has shared her songs at churches, coffee houses, youth events, juvenile centers, jails, clubs, wineries, cafes and festivals throughout North America.
Shank and her husband, Ron, have reached thousands of individuals through their work at the Truckers Ministry in Girard, Ohio, where she has provided the music since 2009.
She and the Granatis are also working on a children’s CD, featuring songs penned by her husband, and are remastering a project featuring contributions by John Sferra and Phil Keaggy, scheduled to be released next year.
In 2023, she and Sheila Kroll-Dickinson launched Pink Out Mahoning Valley/Pink Out America, a nonprofit organization established to host events for individuals with cancer or other serious illnesses. They have since co-hosted the Pink Out Mahoning Valley Music Festival, held in early October to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
