YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local unemployment rates showed a month-over-month decrease in October, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Tuesday.

Mahoning County’s unemployment rate in October was 4.1%, down from 5.1% in September. Trumbull County’s rate decreased from 5.2% to 4.2%, and Columbiana County’s rate dropped from 4.8% to 3.8%.

Rates in all three counties were up from a year earlier. The October 2023 unemployment rate was 3.9% in Mahoning County, 4% in Trumbull County and 3.7% in Columbiana County.

The unemployment rate in the city of Youngstown decreased from 6.6% in September to 5.2% in October. The rate was up from 4.8% in October 2023.

The city of Warren’s unemployment rate decreased from 6.6% in September to 5.5% in October. The rate was up from 4.9% in October 2023.
