YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Hope for Renewal, the nonprofit that operates Glenwood Grounds Café, will host a free veterans appreciation lunch Sept. 13 at the café, 2906 Glenwood Ave.
The Saluting Our Heroes Veterans Appreciation Lunch will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. and include food from Mission BBQ, remarks from Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown and recognition of servicemen and servicewomen from each military branch.
The event will feature speakers Navy veteran Jennifer Baun, a 2015 inductee into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, and Youngstown historian Joseph Napier Sr., who served in both the U.S. Army and Navy. Representatives from the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission will also attend to share information on services and resources.
The program will include a communitywide salute led by local ROTC students and a POW/MIA remembrance with a moment of silence and the playing of “Taps.”

“This is a community partnership to show gratitude for all those who have served our country,” said Gary Koerth, executive director of Hope for Renewal.
