YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Community members are being encouraged to invest in their fitness and well-being one step at a time.

Mercy Health’s Stepping Out program, the Healthy Community Partnership and Travis Manring, community recreation graduate assistant for Youngstown State University’s Campus Recreation, are inviting community members to this year’s free walking class downtown.

Walk Wednesdays will be held from 12:30-1 p.m. every Wednesday, weather permitting, starting this week. Anyone in the Mahoning Valley is invited to participate in the free, outdoor group activity.

The Walk Wednesdays walking group will meet outside Mocha House, downtown, and then walk to Wean Park. The activity will take place every Wednesday until the weather becomes too cold to walk. Participants can also meet the walking group at Wean Park in the parking lot near Covelli Centre. The city of Youngstown’s YO! App will provide a promo code for every walker’s first walk, which can be redeemed at more than 20 city businesses.
