COLUMBUS, Ohio — Walmart will remodel its stores in Poland and East Liverpool, the Arkansas-based retailer said.
The two stores are among 23 in Ohio and more than 650 across the United States that Walmart outlined remodeling plans for in a news release Wednesday. New investments also will focus on “enhancing the associate experience and community engagement,” according to the release.
Work on the Poland store, 1300 Doral Dr., is planned to begin in late July and should get under way at East Liverpool, 16280 Dresden Ave., in early to mid-November, a Walmart spokesman said,
Planned updates include:
Bold signage and new displays to better showcase merchandise
Greater selection with expanded departments and new items
Expanded online pickup and delivery features to accommodate growing online customer orders
Wider aisles, new private screening rooms and privacy checkout areas in store pharmacies.
Before this year, Walmart spent $815 million to upgrade stores throughout Ohio in the past five years, the company said in the release.
“Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role,” Glenda Fleming Willis, senior vice president for Walmart’s north business unit, said in the release. “By investing in our stores and associates, we are not only improving the shopping experience but also reinforcing our commitment to being a vital part of the community’s fabric, helping to build a brighter future for all.”
Walmart operates 170 retail units and six distribution centers in Ohio, and employs nearly 58,000 associates in the state.
