YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Brandan J. Washington, executive director of operations at the Jaylex Event Center, was elected president of the Glenwood Neighbors Business Association.
Washington is a native of Youngstown and is a graduate of Chaney High School. He continued his academic studies at Youngstown State University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
As president of the Glenwood Neighbors Business Association, Washington works to support businesses and transportation systems that fit the community’s needs and scale, while ensuring that new development enhances the neighborhood’s character. The association’s mission is to preserve and strengthen Glenwood’s aesthetic appeal, safety and sense of community, with special attention to historic buildings, parks and open spaces.
Guided by values of community, family, diversity, inclusiveness and a balance between individual rights and collective needs, the association focuses on stabilizing the neighborhood and supporting local enterprises. Its efforts include building connections among residents, encouraging active participation in community decisions, representing the neighborhood to government agencies and organizing projects that advance shared goals.
