YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sterling Williams has spent decades building on the legacy of the family business his father founded while helping families navigate some of life’s most difficult moments.
The owner and CEO of Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home reflects on growing up in the funeral business, why he chose entrepreneurship over a corporate career and the lessons about integrity, service and community that continue to shape his leadership.
Williams also discusses how the funeral industry has changed over the years, from the rise in cremations to changing funeral traditions, as well as the financial realities of operating a funeral home.
Beyond the funeral business, he shares how his interests in accounting, real estate and economic development have led to other business ventures and public service roles, including appointments to the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees and the Western Reserve Port Authority.
Throughout it all, Williams says his focus has remained the same: doing the right thing, serving others and helping strengthen the communities he calls home.
