A lot of events got canceled Jan. 25 because of the massive storm that dumped 15 inches of snow in the Mahoning Valley.
One of the casualties was the Harlem Globetrotters. The clown princes of basketball were scheduled to perform at Covelli Centre that day.
The event was rescheduled to April 13 – which is Monday.
Tickets remain available for the show, which is part of the Globetrotters’ 100th anniversary tour. The team will be wearing its 100 Year jerseys as it faces off against longtime rivals the Washington Generals.
The forecast calls for morning showers that will give way to a sunny afternoon, with a high of 72 and a low of 60.
A Globetrotters victory over the Generals is also a safe bet.
Kayla Boye, the hugely talented actor and playwright, will return to the Mahoning Valley this week to perform her newest show, “Shake It Away: The Ann Miller Story.”
The play brings to life the story of Hollywood and Broadway legend Ann Miller, who was known for her spirited energy and can-do attitude.
The Chicago-based Boye, who grew up in Howland and frequently performed at the Youngstown Playhouse when she still lived here, stars in the show, which she also wrote.
“Shake It Away” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Playhouse Downtown. Learn more HERE.
The play follows “Call Me Elizabeth,” another one-woman show that Boye wrote and starred in.
“Call Me Elizabeth” – which brought to life Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor – was absolutely exceptional.
Judging by its reviews, so is “Shake It Away.”
