As the Steelers-Browns game ends Sunday, the Pumpkin Walk at Twilight will begin.
The annual walk always brings thousands of families and friends to Fellows Riverside Gardens on Youngstown’s west side. Hours are 4-8 p.m., and admission is free.
An incredible number of jack-o-lanterns, ranging from simplistic to high art, will adorn the garden walkways. They’ll be candle-lit, of course, and will come alive as the afternoon turns to night.
Free parking exists at the site and in the neighboring areas in the surrounding blocks. The walk usually includes live music and other family fun.
Here’s a look at some other highlights on the calendar this weekend:
The premiere of “Amanda: She Didn’t Mean to Die” will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at Powers Auditorium. It’s a personal and true depiction of the life of a young woman from Poland, Ohio, who died of drug addiction. “Amanda” was written and produced by the young woman’s mother, who wants the show to become a lesson for young people. The Infidels will perform a rare show Saturday evening at Westside Bowl in Youngstown. The iconic Youngstown band – which has been together for 40 years – recently released its long-awaited album, “Never Forever.” Doors will open at 7 p.m., with music starting at 8 p.m. by the Jellybricks. Learn more HERE.
Some former members of a hit Broadway musical are part of the touring cast of “One Night in Memphis.” The show will come to Westminster College’s Orr Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
“One Night” features four artists who got together one night in 1956 for an all-time great jam session: Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. It’s based on the Broadway show “Million Dollar Quartet.” For tickets, click HERE.
The annual Christmas in the Woods event will return this weekend and next. The outdoors festival and sale will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The grounds are at 44337 County Line Road, just off state Route 7, north of state Route 14, in Columbiana. It’s a beautiful event with many artisans in period wear demonstrating and selling their unique products. The festival will continue Oct. 18-19 as well. Admission is $10 (free for children 12 and under). For information, click HERE.
