There are five seasons in the Mahoning Valley: fall, winter, spring, summer and Italian festival

We’re currently in the middle of the latter season. On the docket this weekend is the Greater Youngstown Italian Fest.

After canceling last year because of the Realty Tower explosion, the festival returns Friday through Sunday. It eats up downtown’s Central Square and several blocks of Federal Street as if it were a hot sausage with onions.

The festival will go into party mode at 9 p.m. each night with live rock music.

RDNA takes the stage Friday, the Vindys on Saturday and the Houseband on Sunday.

The fest has a small admission fee. To see the full entertainment schedule, click HERE.

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were part of the soundtrack of the 1960s and 1970s, and Valli – who is in his 90s – is a living legend.

The “Sherry, Baby” singer will make a final appearance in Youngstown on Friday evening, when the act plays Powers Auditorium – just a few blocks from the Italian fest. Ticket sales are strong, but there are seats available. Click HERE.

Also on Friday evening, the Miss Americanas – a Taylor Swift tribute act – will perform at Eastwood Field in Niles, with opening act Candace Campana. The Miss Americanas put on a crowd-pleasing performance last year at the stadium. For tickets to the 7 p.m. concert, click HERE.

On Saturday evening, Eastwood Field will play host to Rock Never Stops, a concert featuring tribute bands for Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Ratt and Poison. Tickets range from $11.50 to $19.50. Click HERE.

And two more unusual events are on the horizon at Eastwood Field. On Monday, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will rename themselves Peppers in Oil for their 7:05 p.m. game against Williamsport. And on Tuesday evening, the team will rename itself Brier Hill Pizza when it takes on the same team. Renaming themselves for a night to honor local food specialties has become a Scrappers tradition. But the Williamsport players – who will stick to their moniker, the Crosscutters – will be so confused. For tickets, click HERE.
